HARTFORD, CT –– The Taste of the Caribbean Arts & Culture CT, Inc. will present its 19th Annual Taste of the Caribbean & Jerk Festival at The Hartford Community Health Care Stage @The Mortensen Riverfront Plaza downtown Hartford, CT, on Saturday, August 3, 2024 (rain date: Sunday August 4, 2024). This year’s Festival titled, “Making Connections, Bridging Worlds, Building Communities”, will run from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. This Free family-oriented event promotes cultural diversity, fosters community pride, and burnishes the image of an economically vibrant City.
Attendees will enjoy a wide variety of foods, crafts and other delicacies from vendors representing many of the Caribbean island’s cuisines and cultures. They will also be entertained by the legendary Jamaican artist Glen Washington, Terry Gajraj from Guyana, D’Radoes Steel Orchestra from Trinidad & Tobago, Saxophonist Nelson Garcia (Puerto Rico), Klasik (Haiti/Kompa), Gospel artist Eddie Neblett, St. Lucian American La Rose & Solo Group, Caribbean American Dance Company, Grace C. Wright Performing Arts and many more!
Our signature Children’s Village will again be located on the adjoining grounds of the Connecticut Science Center in its ongoing collaboration with the Taste of the Caribbean & Jerk Festival. The Children’s Village will showcase activities such as Caribbean games, arts and crafts and face painting. The public areas of the Science Center will be open and accessible to Festival attendees.
